If you want to cover a lot of water, and fish for big Rainbow and Brown Trout, and Northern Pike, a float fishing trip on the Yampa is a great way to spend a day. We have private put-ins on the Yampa where we float over some of our private ranches. Big dry flies with a dropper or streamers are the way to fish out of our drift boats. These boats allow you to fish the big deep holes found lower on the river as well as giving you access to the sloughs where we find the occasional Nothern Pike. All abilities are welcome on the boats and our guides are expert oarsman and know the Yampa River intimately. We have a window of opportunity for our Yampa River float fishing trips due to water levels and flows. This is usually between the end of June until later part of July or early August, depending on our winter snow accumulations. A float fishing trip on the Yampa is a must for everybody who has not yet experienced it, and has become a yearly highlight for our frequent fly fishers. Plan your float early as space and time is limited.
