A short 15 minutes west of our shop, this ranch has over 3 miles of the Yampa River. Everything is bigger down here: the holes are bigger, the riffles are wider and the fish are both bigger and wider. Rainbow trout are most prominent here, 16 to 20 inches plus, but BIG brown trout are also lurking about. Fishable from late June through November, this section fishes well with nymphs, streamers, and dry flies. The summer Caddis hatch in the evening is fantastic and the fall Baetis and Mahogany mayfiles can keep you fishing dry flies all day long. The riffles are great places for beginners to hook up on a big fish but these brutes pull hard, and are not easily landed. There is enough river to fish for any size group, but book early as this is a popular section to fish.
